Juan Antonio Guirado (1932-2010) was a Spanish painter from Jaén Andalucia,  who relocated to Australia in 1959. There, he cultivated a distinctive painting style influenced by the spirituality he experienced, his interest in the Veda, and the idea of the 'third eye.' He exhibited his work in Sydney for a decade before returning to Spain, where he gained international acclaim by the 1970s, winning the prestigious 'El Grollo' gold medal at the Venice Biennale in 1976.

Critics have hailed him as a visionary, dubbing him 'The 21st Century Artist' for his works addressing environmental issues, spirituality, and political commentary, making him a pioneer in these themes as early as 1974.

Throughout his lifetime, Guirado held over 50 exhibitions, with his paintings featured in prominent collections, including the permanent collection of the Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid. Since 1962, his career has been covered by the press, and he is regarded by scholars as the Spanish master of the Intrarealism school. As galleries and museums seek to rediscover overlooked talents, Guirado is now being re-evaluated and celebrated once more.

The Guirado Estate has dedicated itself to preserving and expanding Guirado's legacy since his passing in 2010. Through ongoing collaborations with galleries, museums, foundations, universities, and the Spanish embassy, the estate is committed to re-establishing his significant place in art history.
