Legacy Collection
Guirado's primary body of work consists of abstract-surreal paintings that he developed while living in Sydney, Australia, in 1966. During this time, he discovered the teachings of the Hindu Vedas and cultivated an interest in metaphysics.
Though initially exhibited as an Essentialist painter in the 1970s, Guirado was introduced to the lesser-known genre of Intrarealism—a subform of Surrealism—by fellow artist and art historian Manuel Cantonia. Cantonia, who authored a book titled "The Andalusian Painter" in 1986, emphasized that Guirado's works align with this movement, which originated in Barcelona in 1967 (see Blogs).
Guirado referred to his paintings as "Visions," which he received during meditation. His work reflects his deep concern for the future of humanity, addressing issues like greed, environmental destruction, and the quest for illumination, redemption, and spirituality.
The paintings in this collection represent some of Guirado's finest legacy works, carefully curated and exhibited over the past decade through partnerships with museums and foundations.
